This is our first travel blog post -- the one where we are trying to get ourselves on the road!

We sold our beautiful lake house in Texas, but we are taking so many wonderful memories with us. We feel confident that we left the house in loving hands. And we are finally heading out to travel the country in our motorhome!

We had a very fast escrow (15 days!) and were hastily throwing our stuff into the RV two hours before our escrow closing appointment. It took us six days to unpack and put everything away.

| All cleaned up! |
We are heading to Southern California first to visit family and friends -- to show off our new home, eat birthday cake, spill wine, and have some laughs.

Day Two on the Road: We made it to our second stop. No travel problems, but our refrigerator quit working! We threw away most of our food and bought styrofoam ice chests. It's a good thing wine does not have to be refrigerated, right?! We've had no luck in finding someone to fix the fridge so we're on ice until we get to our final destination. We drove through a lot of construction, which made us realize we didn't put things away properly! Our laptops ended up on the floor, and cookie sheets and parts of the Keurig were flying around! Scary sounds while speeding down the highway!

Day Three on the Road: Everything started out great this morning! Until we drove out of our RV parking spot. Bouncing, bouncing, BOUNCING!! We bounced along to a parking lot that we could fit in and ate Krispy Kreme donuts (because donuts) while trying to figure out what the problem was. Grumpy called Freightliner support who told him to retract the leveling legs to reset the air ride. Easy enough and it worked! Later, we missed our turn into the RV park (blaming the GPS of course!). Because we are towing a car with a tow dolly, we CANNOT back up. Grumpy has had actual nightmares about this. And there we were on a dead end road! We ended up in the dirt and bushes but finally got turned around and parked for the night. Until...... Grumpy tried to open our closet to change his shirt. In our escapades somewhere along the road, the whole hanging bar in the closet fell!! Yes, we are putting all of our clothes away again!! But wait! There's more! Our high-end styrofoam coolers are leaking! And we discovered the importance of making sure nothing is in the way of the slides when we move them -- like travel pillows and kleenex boxes. Oops!
We hope to share more of our adventures, photos, messes, and mistakes with you as we go. Thanks for stopping by!
Tonight's wine: Bogle Chardonnay -- with ice. Cheers!
Hot damn...Congratulations! I am envious. You are going to meet so many interesting people (and not just in Freightliner Customer Service). Obviously, someone loves to drive. And I don't see the problem with those "before" and "failure" pix. Could be a photo of our Oregon house right now. We're preparing it for sale and what a nightmare it is. Bought a house in GA last year an hour south of Savannah on the marsh and hope to return in the fall after the sale. Y'all will have to visit. Or, considering your recent master class in packing, you could tear yourselves away from CA wine country and come up to Portland to help us clear out the house and assist in the "estate" sale. I've got lots of junk, make that family heirlooms, I'd just LOVE to pass on to kin and would be quite tasteful in a motorhome...Safe travels, you two.
